Sending a downloaded WEBP illustration or product image to a recipient who needs PDF. Keep the original WEBP for web publishing, where its compression and transparency may be more useful.

FORMAT GUIDANCE
When to convert WEBP to PDF
Turn a WEBP image into an image-based PDF for a document workflow that will not accept WEBP. This wraps a rendered still image in a separate one-page PDF, rather than preserving WEBP compression or animation.
Choose a background colour for transparent areas before converting. Keep the original width and height initially and use high quality for fine detail; output page proportions follow these image dimensions.
Transparent pixels are flattened onto your chosen background and the PDF embeds a JPEG image. Animated WEBP is not preserved as animation. Several inputs produce separate PDFs, not one merged document.
WEBP vs PDF
| Consideration | WEBP | |
|---|---|---|
| Purpose | Web image delivery | Document sharing |
| Transparency | Supported by WEBP | Flattened to background |
| Animation | May be animated | Still image only |
| Encoding | WEBP compressed image | JPEG embedded in PDF |
| Multiple inputs | Individual images | Separate one-page PDFs |
WEBP to PDF questions
Does a transparent WEBP stay transparent?
No. PDF output here uses a JPEG image on the background colour selected in Options.
Will an animated WEBP play inside the PDF?
No. This workflow renders a still image; it does not embed an animation.
Can I combine WEBP files into one PDF?
Not here. Each input produces its own one-page PDF.
Does this add selectable text?
No. It creates an image-based PDF without OCR or a searchable text layer.
Should I use WEBP or PDF on my website?
Usually retain WEBP for displaying an image on a web page. Choose PDF only when a downloadable document is what your audience needs.
