Keep transparent backgrounds—and choose a file that works
A format can support transparency and still be rejected by a particular app or upload form. Check both the visual feature you need and the destination’s accepted file types before converting.

A safe three-question check
- Does the destination accept the format? Check the app, CMS, marketplace or form requirements. Browser display support does not guarantee an upload form will accept the same extension.
- Must transparency remain? Choose PNG, WEBP or AVIF for partial transparency. GIF is limited to fully transparent or fully opaque palette entries. JPG cannot store transparency.
- Must the image remain scalable or animated? Keep SVG as the vector master and animated GIF as the animation master. Zeepora’s raster and GIF outputs are still images.
How Zeepora handles transparent pixels
PNG, WEBP and AVIF outputs can retain transparent canvas pixels. The comparison viewer uses a checkerboard so transparent areas are visible. JPG, EPS, PS and PDF cannot use Zeepora’s transparent canvas as-is, so their Options include a background colour; Zeepora fills the canvas with that colour before drawing the source.
GIF output uses a palette with one-bit alpha and contains a single frame. ICO output is a 256×256 square icon with the source fitted inside it. Converting SVG to a raster format fixes the result at the chosen pixel dimensions, so keep the original SVG if you will need to resize or edit the artwork later.
Practical conversion paths
Transparent logo for a website
Start with SVG to WEBP or SVG to PNG. Inspect the edges on the checkerboard, then test the result in the real website or CMS. Keep SVG as the editable master.
Photo for the widest compatibility
Use WEBP to JPG when a destination does not accept WEBP. Pick a background colour first if the source contains transparent pixels, and compare the result at actual size.
Transparent raster for older software
Use WEBP to PNG or AVIF to PNG when the destination accepts PNG but rejects the newer source. The file can become larger, so compare the measured result rather than assuming a saving.
Favicon or Windows icon
Use Image to ICO with simple, square artwork. Zeepora fits the image inside a transparent 256×256 canvas; check legibility at the small size where the icon will actually appear.

Format capabilities and general browser guidance were checked against the MDN image file type guide. PNG lossless encoding and alpha behavior were checked against the W3C PNG specification. Compatibility can change, so verify the destination requirements and test a representative file.
